I think that the Justice branch has become far too liberal. It is a shame that they are placed in the Supreme Court and they have to die or retire in order to get some new blood. It would be nice to have Sandra Day O’Conner back. Now there was a woman who kept her head on straight.

I am a young woman currently working toward my law degree. I am so inspired by Justice Sotomayor’s success. It pushes me to continue on my way and hopefully someday I too will be a success!

I am proud of Sonia’s accomplishments. To anyone who says that her racial background is why she has been placed in this position I would like you to take a moment. In that moment I would like for you to look at her experience as a judge. Basing her success on anything other than her track record is deplorable.

I am always interested in seeing how justices of various ethnic groups vote in situations of discrimination. In her most notable and remembered case, Ricci v. DeStefano it was an issue of a firefighter not being promoted based on race. How else could one vote? “All men are created equal”. Aren’t they? It is quite interesting to follow and see how she votes on certain topics.

I worry about Sotomayor and her inability to decide if she is a liberal or conservative. I guess that in her position it is hard to be strictly one way or another. She seems like a strong woman who will continue to be a success.

I think that this liberal is adding balance to the Supreme Court. She is not exclusively liberal. Many of her judgments border on the conservative side of things. It is important that balance be present.

I think that it is wonderful that there is a nice ethnic balance in the Supreme Court right now. With the American Hispanic population on the rise I think that it is vital that this portion of our citizens be represented in all three areas of government.

I think that Sotomayor has been quite conservative in her rulings. I am shocked that she is filling conservative shoes rather than the liberal side we all expected from her. I pray that abortion rights will not be in jeopardy with her voting.

I think that she seems to be very wishy washy and applies the written law where she sees fit. Her discussions and ruling on abortions go against abortion laws and it is deplorable that a judge can pick and choose their abidance of the law. I also do not understand why there is such a push on race here. Just because she is the first does not mean that she is the best!

With an ever growing Hispanic population in the United States I think that it is important that a role model such as Sonia Sotomayor be present. It shows young children why it is so important to value their education. It also shows children that no matter the color of your skin or your gender you can be a success in this great nation.
